Well, I'm back in black. Literally. I've returned to the age old uniform of serving staff the world over. Black. Shirt, shoes, pants, apron, socks, under stuff... all of it, black.
Now I'm not complaining, not yet anyway. I quite like black and it likes me back, I think. But what if YOU were being threatened with a new "change" of uniform? Like to T-shirts? I'm so not down with this. Sure, lets all be more comfy in the warmer months, we can do that in black shorts/skirts & short sleeve shirts. Do they not have waiters in Florida who wear black AND serve outdoors?
You will all ( I use "all" as a metaphor for "both". LOL ) note that my rage/anger levels are not as taxed in my new place of employ. Maybe I'm still in that "honey moon" phase, even after four months. If I bitch about money, suffice it to say I started at the Cafe in December. The Cafe is in a shopping center, with lots of foot traffic and tons of parking. You get my drift? Now it's March and cold and the economy blows, which translates into low tip figures. My percentages are great, a point higher than the norm (the new norm, not the 15% one). Just gotta work on my turnover time, if the kitchen gods smile upon me, maybe.... Also, I pack in my 20 hour work week into two evenings, it was three, but my bones wouldn't stop giving me grief, so I knocked it back. While I may only work 20 some hours, I am gone from home from about 1:30 pm Friday afternoon until about midnight Sunday evening. It's a long drive, and lonely at best on a Sunday night, so I usually take a dog with me. And the way I figure it, if I have an accident, so long as there are no Cafe packages thrown about, my trusty canine companion will lick me into consciousness... unless otherwise involved in dining on Mom's Salmon Putenesca and broccoli rabe....
I will try my best to make drama out of thin air, for the sake of the blog, and for you, my adoring fan(s). I'm sure INS will make a showing at some point...
Until then , I bid you Adieu!
